Great to meet you, I’m JC!

YouTuber, Money Coach, Tennis Player, and Husband. My mission is to help ambitious people like yourself gain the know-how and confidence to reach financial freedom on your own terms.

I was one of the lucky ones.

It’s true, I grew up in a household that actually talked about money, and it didn’t cause a disturbance in the force. (Yes, that was a Star Wars reference.)

My parents immigrated to America with nothing and quietly became first-gen millionaires by the time I graduated college. They worked 9-5 jobs, cooked every meal at home, and drove Toyotas for as long as I could remember.

In fact, my dad drove his 1997 Toyota Celica past 400,000 miles until it finally died on him.

My parents were the first quiet millionaires I’ve ever met.  But they also learned many lessons the hard way because they were so isolated on their journey.

The power of community

I started The Frugal Rich as a way to shorten the learning curve.

This is the community for people who are building wealth the QUIET WAY. Not because it’s cool to be mysterious, but because that’s what actually works.

Social media has inaccurately depicted what “being rich” looks like. In fact, most of America’s millionaires look like they buy their clothes from Costco (and that’s not a roast, Costco’s got some heat!)

I’ve been able to avoid debt my whole life, maintain a 40% investing rate, and build a financially peaceful life with my best friend (aka my wife). We’re well on our way to retiring early.

And I promise you, I don’t look that cool! I drive a 2012 Honda Civic, make a budget every single month, and buy investments that would put a crypto bro to sleep.

People who invest consistently and live intentionally, don’t need to show off to feel successful.

This is the community to get around those types of people.

The community today…

Here’s how we got here.

2017 – 2019

The Pivot

I paused college to volunteer for a 2-year church mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. Yes, Las Vegas. I turned “Sin City” into just “City.”
Beyond the spiritual growth, this chapter taught me something unexpected. Walking up to complete strangers every single day gave me the confidence to have real conversations with anyone, anywhere. A skill I still use today, just for very different reasons

2019

The Grind

Before resuming school I worked every hourly job I could find. I delivered pizza for Papa John’s, cashiered at JCPenney (that job literally had my name on it), and budgeted every measly paycheck like my future depended on it.

Because it did.

I also spent hundreds of hours listening to financial books and podcasts on those delivery routes. That’s when the investing bug finally bit me. I opened my first account and never looked back.

2020

Early Coaching

I became a certified financial coach through Ramsey Solutions and started working with college students and young married couples. Helping them pay off debt, stick to budgets, and open their first investing accounts.

Turns out I loved it.

2021

First Content Goes Up

I started uploading videos documenting my own financial journey. Then came the interviews with peers — candid conversations about how real people are actually making financial decisions. People loved it more than anything else I was making.

That told me something important.

2022-2023

The Leap

I was about to start as a financial advisor when the firm told me I’d have to stop making content entirely due to compliance regulations.

So I left. Went full time into content and coaching. Best decision I ever made.

Oh, and I married my best friend. That was pretty good too.

2024

The Frugal Rich Is Born

I launched The Frugal Rich YouTube channel with a clear focus — a more mature audience that was already financially responsible but ready to optimize and go further.

2025

Going Deeper

I began speaking at workshops for organizations and professionals about building wealth intentionally. And the Finding Quiet Millionaires series launched online, featuring real everyday Americans who had quietly built 7-figure net worths.

It took off immediately.

Building Something Bigger

The community is growing. The conversations are getting better. And we’re just getting started.

And when I’m not talking about money…

What’s your favorite food?

Asian food and it’s not even close. Sushi, ramen, KBBQ — I’m going in.

What’s your sport?

Tennis is my jam. Always has been, always will be. I’ll play pickleball with friends because it’s easier to get people out, but tennis is where my heart is.

Perfect Saturday night at home. What does that look like?

Potluck at our place! Good food that everyone contributed to, board games on the table, and people who actually want to be there. That’s the vibe.

Most underrated cheap activity?

I gotta shoutout camping. Sitting around staring at a bonfire, followed up with a night listening to the sounds of nature. That’s straight-up meditative. And I’m sooo blessed my wife enjoys camping too!
